Erika Fanselow, Ph.D.
- Teaching Associate Professor, Neuroscience
Dr. Fanselow joined the Department of Neuroscience in 2015, where she teaches undergraduate students a range of topics including neuroanatomy and synaptic transmission. Dr. Fanselow previously worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurobiology at the University of Pittsburgh and as a neurophysiology consultant. Dr. Fanselow’s research focused primarily on the roles different kinds of inhibitory neurons play in regulating neocortical circuit activity. In addition, she conducted research on the use of trigeminal nerve stimulation to control epileptic seizures. She earned her B.A. in Biology and Music from Case Western Reserve University and her Ph.D. in Neurobiology from Duke University. She completed her postdoctoral training at Brown University.
In addition to teaching, Dr. Fanselow serves on the Department of Neuroscience Curriculum Committee, and is the Co-Chair of the Department’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee.
